There are days that I think why do I still have a blog? It's not like I ever write on it! But I can't get rid of it, not yet. So I'm going to try to make more of an effort to post something... at least weekly! Okay lets see what's going on with me...

I'm back in school! Many of you thought I graduated, I pretended to, but I didn't pass my spanish course (that course was going to be the death of me!). So anyways I switched to the new global studies program at briercrest and I now have 2 classes to take in order to grad, neither of them a second language! So I am now taking History of Islam and Globalization!

Work: I am now working 4 days a week as a cook in the retirement home! Actually right now I'm lucky if I cook 1 day, but once they get fully staffed I will be cooking 4 days a week and then once school is finished it should move up to 5 days a week! I really like my job, especially when I get to cook!

Weight loss: I didn't do super well over the summer... I did lose a few pounds but nothing too major (like 4 or 5 lbs) so the beginning of september I joined weight watchers meetings. I definitely think it's what I needed to get myself restarted. I've been much more diligent at looking at what I'm eating and in the past 2 weeks I've lost over 7lbs! My goal this week is to lose 3 more.

Anyways I'm sure I could stay on here and write until the cows come home but I need to be off to the gym.

More Rhubarb Recipes

Rhubarb Crisp

Filling

8 cups rhubarb, chopped into small pieces

2 tbsp cornstarch

2-3 cups frozen or fresh strawberries

¼ cup flour

2/3 cup splenda or sugar

Topping (I made a double batch as the topping is my FAVOURITE!)

1 ¼ cups rolled oats, not instant

½ cup brown sugar (I used the Splenda substitute)

4 tbsp flour

2 tsp cinnamon

3 tbsp melted butter or margarine

DIRECTIONS:

In a large bowl, mix the rhubarb with the cornstarch. Add the strawberries, flour and sugar Mix well. Pour into a 9 X 13 inch baking dish. I spray the baking dish with Pam beforehand.

Into the empty bowl, mix together all of the topping ingredients. Spread the topping over the filling that is in the baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees F for 40 to 50 minutes until the filling is bubbly and the topping is brown. If the topping is browning too quickly, lower the temperature of the oven to 350 degrees.

Sugar Free Strawberry and Rhubarb Jam

Today I went to Church with Mom and the kidos and I got some free rhubarb! I haven't had a chance to do any canning freezing etc. yet this spring/summer so I thought this would be the perfect time to start. So Tonight I made up a batch of this jam. It is VERY sweet and VERY yummy!

Ingredients
4 cups chopped fresh or frozen rhubarb (about 1 1/3 lbs)
1 cup Splenda granular
3/4 cup water
shopping list
1 small package sugar-Free strawberry or raspberry Jell-O (4-serving size)
2 tsp lemon juice
Directions:
In a large saucepan or stockpot, stir together the fresh rhubarb and Splenda.
Bring the rhubarb, Splenda and water to a boil over medium heat.
Simmer, stirring, for 15 minutes.
Remove from heat, and stir in Jell-O powder and lemon juice.
Keep refrigerated.

Krista and I did our 5km run today! We both did it in just under 45 min and neither of us stopped jogging at any point! I'm ready for the next run now!!!

Technology Life and Death

Me and my electronics have had a very interesting week. I got a Macbook this week! I have been without my own computer for just over a month but I've been without a good, working computer that can access the internet for over a year now. So needless to say I'm stoked to have one again!

This week I also got a new Ipod! I went to turn on my old one and it wouldn't start so I figured no problem I'll charge it. Well that didn't work, there was nothing I could do to get this dang thing to turn on. And I don't know about you but I can not work out if I don't have music so off to walmart I went to get a new one. Well as I was loading music on my new Ipod Heather picked up my old one and IT TURNED ON! What the heck??? Well Krista now has an Ipod too!

Yesterday I was washing my bedding and when I pulled my sheets out of the washing machine my cell phone came out too... WHAT???? This is pathetic what else could go wrong with my electronics??? So now my cell phone is in a bed of rice dying out... I think I need to stay away from technology for an a while!

I LOVE MARTHA STEWART!!!

I know everyone makes fun of her because she was in jail but she is my favourite! She is brilliant, okay so maybe it's her staff that are brilliant! For Christmas I was given a subscription to her Living magazine and every month I devour it! This Month there were a ton of amazing recipes for the summer. My favourite one I have tried to far is the Pineapple Cucumber Salad... here it is for you!

2 cups Pineapple

1 Cucumber

1/4 cup Fresh Basil (we had to use dried basil and we used about 2 tbs)

1/4 cup Olive Oil

Cube pineapple and grill, then cool. Slice cucumber, rip basil leaves, mix everything together. This salad is AMAZING it's so sweet and fresh and summer tasting!

Challenges Done and Challenges to Come

Wow I really suck at blogging regularly... not that I haven't tried in the past few weeks but for some reason Heather's computer wouldn't let me sign into my blog so I had to wait until I got my computer! And it came yesterday! I got my first mac and I'm loving it... when I can figure it out.

Okay so as you may or may not remember but for all of May I wasn't eating sugar, I DID IT!!! I made it through the month and was so proud of myself. Well last week I was able to eat sugar again and I did! I ate EVERYTHING this week I ate cookies, ice cream, cake and the list goes on. So after a horrid week I have decided that I need to cut out sugar again! This time it's not for a time period it's forever but I will be able to have sugar for special occasions or from time to time just not in my day to day life.

You also may or may not remember that I have signed up to do a 5km run this month. Krista and I will be doing this on Saturday! 2 weeks ago I was terrified that I wasn't going to be able to do it but last week I "ran" 5km for the first time ever and so now I know I can get this done on Saturday... I'm sure there will be pictures to follow!

This month I am doing another weight loss goal/challenge etc. I have to work out for a minimum of 5 hours a week. I've been doing it for 1 week and I've met my goal! I'm excited for the next 3 weeks to see how far I can come in this area.

I just finished registering for my first run! I never thought I would say that! It's only a 5km but it's a huge start for me! Now I just have to train so I can run 5km!

PS week 1 of no sugar and no slip ups! Also down 3.6lbs this week!

Okay time for a weight loss/excersise etc update!
From now to the end of summer I am part of a biggest loser competition! I'm pretty excited for it and I think it's what I need to do to step up my weight loss! As part of this competition we are going to cut out sugar for a month. I'll let you guys know how it goes... just so you know I'm planning on winning!
Krista and I have also started training for a 10km run in the fall! I'll keep you updated on that one too.

Time for Some BIG Changes!

Since I last posted a couple things have happened in my life.

1) I resigned from my job. I am ready for a change and working 24's were just getting to be too much for me. I also got a new job! I'm going to be a cooks assistant at a retirement home! It's just a casual position so I'm not sure how many hours I'm going to be getting but I'm really excited to start there!
2) I have decided to go back to school in the fall! I haven't signed up or registered for classes yet but as long as everything goes smoothly I'm going to be heading back to Brierecrest for 1 more semester to finish up my program!

I know that by now you know I LOVE to travel! I'm usually not too particular about where I go as long as it's a trip! Well last year I had the opportunity to go to Toronto 3 times, The Island 3 or 4 times, Californa, alberta a few times and a little road trip through the states. This year however I have stayed very close to home... the firthest I got to go was Regina! So I'm soooo excited that I can start my "adventures" again! Where am I going you might ask? Vancouver Island!!! I know this on is not sooo exciting any more as it's something I have been able to do often... but trust me when it means getting out of caronport it's WONDERFUL! About a month after that trip Heather and I are going to dust off our passports and head down to Minot, ND for a couple nights... what's more fun then shopping in the States??? And lastly we are hoping to take another real vacation in October... where you might ask? you'll just have to wait and see!!!

Where Have I Been???

O my goodness! Where has the past month gone??? I feel like just yesterday February ended and now it's almost April! March has been a wonderful month for so many ways! I have enjoyed watching my new, okay my only, nephew grow. Even though he is only 1 month old I can see such changes in him... his personality is already reminding me of Krista's! The weather is fianlly improving! We still have some -20 days but we have more +1 days too! With the nicer weather also comes melting snow! If you know me at al I HATE snow so this is extra wonderful for me! This month I reach my first major weight loss goal since startingWW... I am now under 200lbs! I have been struggling some with sticking to the plan but I think I've finally got over that hump and I'm ready to continue! Over the past few months my "running" had stopped. I found it so hard and I idn't enjoy it... but last week I decided that if I'm going to get that 10k in this year I need to start pushing myself! So I started up with jogging again and right away I was able to go 1 mile! When I started working out I could go about 30 seconds before I had a heart attack... now I can go 13:20 all at one time!!!! So by next month I'm hoping I'll be able to run 2 miles... 16:40...I can hope right? So that's my little last month update in a nut shell!

Time for a Goal Update

So January is over which means I only have 11 months to finish my goals, lets see how I'm doing!1) Participate in a 10k run
I've been traning by running 3 times weekly on the treadmill. I can now run for 4 min at a time and today I ran 20 min in total. Soooooo all that to say I have a lot more work but I'm slowly moving in that direction.
2) Lose 50lbs
I'm only down 3lbs this month :S but I'm trying to stick with Weight Watchers and excersising so all I can do is keep doing is try.
3) Go to a country I've never been to
well I have put over $300 in savings now for this trip!!!! Now I just need a travel friend!
4) Learn to make GF bread
well I haven't really tried yet but I've been doing some other GF baking
5) Spend more time reading my Bible and Praying
I have found that my time at the gym is a great time to pray, listen to messages on my Ipod and inspiring music.

So there it is my month #1 update. How are your New Years goals going?

It's a new year so guess what... time for some resolutions! I know I'm going to write them all just so I can break them but that's okay! This year I decided that I should write 10 goals for the year 2011... once I started writing goals I realized that I couldn't come up with 10 so I decided to settle for 5, so here they are:

Participate in a 10k run
Lose 50lbs
Go to a country I've never been to
Learn how to make good gluten free bread
Spend more time praying and studying my Bible.

I'm missing 5% of myself

Exactly 4 weeks ago today I restarted Weight Watchers and when I weighed in today I was informed that I lost 5% of my body weight in that time!

When I started WW I decided that I need to give myself some goals to reach with AMAZING rewards! I used to be all lameo with my rewards but I decided that this time my reward would be something I have wanted for a crazy long time... A TRIP TO EUROPE!

at 214 - book 2 weeks off work for my trip (DONE!)
at 204 - book my flight to England!!!!
at 194 - book a flight from England to Italy!
at 184 - book my flight from Italy to Paris

I have until July 6, 2011 to finish these goals. On July 6 I will book my flight back to Regina from whatever location I reach the goals for. Now I just need to convince Kaila to come with me!

I'm soooo good at Christmas!

I know it's only November but we are ready for Christmas! Okay maybe not ready but preperations are in full swing! We have started our inside Christmas decorating

and finished out outside! Let me tell you a couple things I learned while decorating outside.

1) Decorate before it gets too cold.

2) Things (aka candy cane lights) won't stick into a frozen ground

3) If you do need to decorate when it's cold... wear LOTS of clothing

Let's see what other preperations... We have lots of presents bought and wrapped!!!! One perk? of having a big family is you get to buy TONS of gifts!

Hmm... what else??? We bough a turkey!!! We even got it for a really great price! Okay so we assume we did because the sign said only one per household... they don't say that unless it's a really good deal!

Okay so that's about it when it comes to Christmas prep for now... but Saskatchewan has prepared itself as well... we got snow. I was wanting a green Christmas but like that is ever going to happen here

So for the past month or 2 I havn't been doing so swell on my weight loss... if anything I've been going backwards. I can come up with a million and 1 excuses but really it's just that I'm being LAZY! So today I decided NO MORE! I have been working out again the past couple weeks but unless I'm eatting better I know it's not going to help much so... today I signed up for Weight Watchers online! We'll see how it goes... I'll update you in a week or so and let you know my progress... my goal??? To lose about 2lbs a week... I just want to get under that 200 mark... i've been above it for far too long!

For the past month or so we have been dealing with Heather's computer. That thing is a piece of crap! She's had it for just under a year and it freezes, the CD rom doesn't work half the time, etc. So we've been in contact with Dell (NOTE: DON'T BUY A DELL!) trying to figure out how we can fix it. Becuase this has been such a frusterating event Heather and I have been sharing making these calls... for that reason and because I had to teach her to be mean to get what she needed!

So here I go I dial the number, I press one for english, then I get sent to India! And let me tell you THESE PEOPLE DO NOT SPEEK ENGLISH! You spent 1/3 of your time asking them to repeat themselves, another third of your time repeating yourself and the other 3rd on hold so they can look into your problem. BAH! Lets just say Heather's computer is still having problems and I won't even accept bribes any more to call them!

The Mega Summer Update

Wow! I have really neglected blogging the past few months. This is no good... but I promise you today I will make up for that! I'm going to update you on EVERYTHING that has been going on. I was going to do this is a bunch of different blog posts but then I was like hey why not make 1 mega blog post so that is what I'm gonna do!

First things first lets look at the summer to do list

Go camping ~ DONE!
Finish my Quilt ~ Bahaha not even close
Go to a rodeo ~ nope but I have plans to attend the PBR in November
Enter my pictures into a fair! ~ hahah wasn't in town for the entry dates
Go to a fair ~ okay so I did do this with work
Take a trip to the States ~ not yet... maybe once heather gets back???
Go Home ~ done x3!!!
See the Ocean (and I don't mean from the ferry) ~ Done x3!!!!
Read 1 book a week ~ I did lots of reading but since I didn't keep track I'm not sure if I met this one
Write a cookbook (well start one) ~ Ya so too busy traveling to get this done :S

I also feel a need to point out I painted and redecorated 4 rooms this summer, traveled to Tronto twice, and lost over 20lbs! These things weren't on my list but they should have been!

I Drove a Quad for the first time this summer!!! I didn't know how much I would enjoy it as I usally don't like "scary, dare devily" things... but I LOVED IT!!! I want one to drive around Caronport now!

On our way home from Yohetta we had a few set backs and I ended up arriving at the airport at 7:30pm... my flight left at 7:30pm :( So I got a flight for the next morning. Because mom, Kaila and the kids needed to catch a ferry home I was needing a hotel for the night... mom helped me look but we couldn't find anything... well I was able to find a hotel! I stayed at the Fairmont at the airport! This was hands down the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in! I got a $150 discount and it's still the most I ever paid for a hotel but it was worth it!

Chemainus theater is one of my favorite things every summer! This Summer Mom, Heather, Jenn and I went to see Guys and Dolls... I didn't know anything about this play but I was not at all disapointed! We had an amazing dinner with the most perfect desert! And the play was pefect!

Another thing I have done for the past few summers is bring Jenn, Karl and Brent Camping. This year Aiden joined us as well. I learned a few things... most important that I need help if I'm going to bring 4 kids camping! However we did have many great times... with a few not so great!

IN 2 dAYS I'M fLYING BACK TO BC!!! My friend from high school is getting married Saturday so I get to go home for the weekend!!! I haven't been in BC since christmas, this is the longest I've ever been out of BC. Anyways this got me thinking about all the flights I've been on in the past 10 months.

The Joys of a good Excersise

So I've never been a big excersiser... actually I've usally been quite the opposite. However I love my excersise time now. I find myself wanting to excersise longer (because of this I have changed my 45 min 5 days a week to 1 hour everyday!)! I feel like I have so much more energy, and I've really just started...I find at work I can't sit still anymore, I have too much energy to sit still... I'm going to be ADHD soon!

Today we had the opportunity to go and visit mom's family in Otterville. We had such a great time visiting with our Aunt, Uncle, cousins and second cousins. We had soooo many laughs and a great time catching up. There is one story from today I feel need to share:

It happened on our tour of Otterville. Uncle Bob was driving us around showing us the changes that have happened in the past 8 years! During our tour he showed us the great work Mel had been doing. Mel is an elderly man who has lived in Otterville for a while. 4 years ago Mel got a sprayer machine to spray weeds, so he was wonderful and sprayed the yards of some of the town folks. This year he decided that it was time to break out the sprayer again and help out those neighbors once again. This time he figured he didn't need to ask, they said yes last time so it must be okay. There was one slight problem not all the nosles were working on the sprayer so he wouldn't get all of the grass but some is better than none right?

While Mel was out spraying the grass one of his neighbors got home, he waved at Mel they talked for a bit and then Mel kept spraying. The next morning when that man went out to head out to work this is what he found.

Mel had killed half the grass of 4 of his neighbors! But not all of it, just the areas that had working nosles!

Toronto Day #1

Mom and I arrived in Toronto late last night, so today was our first day for fun! We slept in and then when Krista was done work we went to the Eaton Center to shop (a 2 block by 1 block mall that has 5 stories of stores). After shopping we went out for dinner and on the way home we stopped and got peticures! That is what I want to tell you about, the pedicures.

We maganed to find a nail salon open at 9pm, this was not easy. There were only 2 ladies who were able to give us pedis so Kris and I went first and mom got her's after I was done. The ladies were Asian and were talking back and forth to each other, no problem. When lady #1 was done my pedi she went over to do moms and right away she started talking ALOT. I thought she was talking to lady #2, mom thought she was talking to here (she wasn't talking in English) and Krista figured she was just talking to herself. Well Krista was right, the whole time she did mom's pedi (30 min?) she talked, very animatedly, to herself! O it was sooo hard not to laugh... krista was red in the face, mom even pretended she was watching the soccer game so people wouldn't notice the smirk on her face. O boy it was a fun hour!

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...Maybe I Should Have Been Left at Home

I went to my first baseball game in years today... I learned lots. Here's a few tips for your next baseball game

Don't cheer for the wrong team, people don't like that, and they don't care if it's by accident. You will know that you're cheering at the wrong time when no one else around you is cheering, and everyone is staring at you with evil eyes.
There are 9 innings in a baseball game, not 7 like I previously assumed. So bring a snack becuase 9 innings can take a while.
Don't sit right behind home plate. Though it is a safe place to sit becasue there's a high fence in front of you, it does not give you the best view.

Ok so those are are the tips I have for now but I'm sure that at my next game I will learn somemore things that you will all need to know. So stay tuned

So I know that you all have been just sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for todays post... This is my 1 month weigh in! As I said in my first blog the point of this life change was not as much to lose weight as to become a healthier more energetic person (I don't think I worded it quite like that but you know.)! But of course I need to lose weight to be a heathier person. So here are a few changes I made in my life.

I have cut most sugar out of my diet
I try to eat veggies and or fruit at every meal
I try to get out for a walk or to the gym 5 days a week (45 min each day)
I'm taking a multi-vitamin
I have started eatting according to the Weight Watchers points plan

Becasue of those changes I have been able to lose... ready for it??? 12.8lbs in the month!!! That means 1.8lbs this week!

I Hate Cats

I know I know hate is a stong word... but it is the only way to describe my strong dislike for felines. This small bit of news however hasn't reached the cats of Caronport. There are 3 cats imparticular that seem to love me. It all started Saturday, it was a rainy day, when I was coming back from church breakfast. I got to my house, went in and dropped my first load, went back to my car, picked up my second load and when I turn around there's a cat sitting at my door! I had closed it behind me... not sure why... but glad I did. So I walked over to it and tried to shoo it away, it went no where. I pushed it with my foot, gentley of course, it still sat there. 5 MIN! it took me 5 min to get this cat to move so I could get into my house! and as soon as I opened the door the cat made a mad dash towards it! I was able to get in and shut the door just in time... 1 point for Andrea! Well at this point the cat starts to meow... not a quiet one, nope one that would let all of Caronport know that I had locked it out of my house. Then if that wasn't enough it gets a friend and they start crying together! AHHHH 1 point for the cats!
So if this story wasn't grand enough, now everytime I leave my house the cats try to get in, they have decided the best place to sun would be my porch and that my garden, which I was weeding to plant veggies in, would be a perfect litter box. AHHHHH I HATE CATS!

How to spend 4 days on your own

I'm back! Back to work and that means back to the internet! I spent my last 4 days doing so many things!
I got off Friday, shopped for a couple hours and then went home, watched Big Bang Theory Season 2 and slept! It was a glourious day!
Saturday I had Church Breakfast @ 9am.... I know you're thinking WHY? well we go that early becasue everyone gets the seniors get there early discount... o except me cuz I'm too young. After church breakfast I had a bit more shopping I needed to do then it was off to my house to... PAINT!... I painted the upstairs bathroom a light blue and the kitchen I repainted... don't get me started... and it's now PINK! you'll have to scan through a few pics if you click on the links but they are there and easy to find. Hmm... O I also watched a lot of Big Bang Theory! I also did some baking!
Sunday! Of course it started out with me going to church, I love my church... I did get there a little late though, tip: don't paint your bathroom before church! After church I came home and watched, you guessed it big bang theory! I then put the kitchen and bathroom back together and called Kaila and talked to her for way too long! Then I went for a wonderful walk! O ya I can't forget I washed my dishes too (first time in 3 weeks).
Monday... my last day off... I tried to sleep in but woke up at 7:45 (DUMB!). Which ended up being ok cuz I baby-sat for a couple hours in the AM. Then I cleaned my whole house! It was a DISASTER!!! I even vacumed and everything!

That is how I spent my first 4 days alone since Heather left and I have to say I really enjoyed them! I think I could get used to this... okay who am I kidding HEATHER COME BACK!

I Want Knees

Forever I have struggled with my weight I gain 30lbs, lose 20, gain 10, lose 15 etc. I've been very sucessful at losing weight but then I get tired of eatting right and spending time excersising every day so I stop... well I'm back on the excersise/eatting good wagon again! I've been back on for 4 days and I already notice a huge difference in my mood and my energy. So ready here's my goal: Lose 30 lbs by Aug 26. I'm hoping that posting this on my blog will help me be more motivated. So here's my accountability plan every Thursday I will weigh in and I'll let you know how I'm doing.... if I'm not working thursday the update might be a little late but it will come!

So I'm back to a computer so I thought I would give you a little update on my life.

Wed.: I finished work and had to take first aid all day!

Thur.: I went to the dr's and baby-sat

Friday: I got bloodwork done (B00) and started weeding my garden so I can plant some veggies

Saturday:Back to work, got my break in the am so I was able to go to church breakfast... O ya and SOMEONE HOT MY CAR WHILE I WAS DRIVING! They stopped on a main road, so I stopped, they backed up, so I honked, she didn't stop!

So I was just commenting on my mom's blog and I had to type in those words they make you type in. You know the ones that are a squwished together and say things like framed potato? While I was doing that I was thinking that people who have bad eye sight would never be able to leave comments on blogs, how sad. I have darn good eye sight and I still have to type it in like 3 times to get them right! What would you do if you couldn't identify the cl from a d... I have this problem from time to time.

And really what is their purpose anyways? If you're going to make a stupid comment it's not going to stop you. Someone once told me that they were so drunk people wouldn't comment... really, if you're drunk and feel a need to blog I don't think typing in 2 words is going to stop you.

Then for this blog I decided I needed a picture of one of these to add. Well I figured out very quickly I don't know their name! I came up with some really creavite searches to look for them, security word, security code, type the words, type letters... o I know they got better as I went on, but no luck. Anyone know what they are really called? cuz I feel I should knnow so one day when I'm supper smart and on Jeperdy I can answer that question.

Adventure #1 Complete

I am currently on my first 4 days off since heather left. I have decided that every time I have no work I need to do something exciting... It could be painting the house, going away... or something else but there is no way I am going to sit around for the summer.

Keeping with that goal the moment I got off work Monday I was gone! I went to Calgary for the night to visit Kassi and go to her shower. It was so WONDERFUL to see her again, it has been way too long! Then on Tuesday I was able to stop in for a visit with the family heather used to live with and with Ani! It was so great seeing everyone it had been way too long! However I was extatic to arrive home last night. I was missing my bed!

I bet you just can not wait to hear about my next adventure... where will it be too you ask... TORONTO!!!!

One More Reason I Love my Church

During our prayer and sharing time today we were told a wonderful story that I want to share with you.

There is a young teen in Moose Jaw, we'll call her Jane, who had a dream, she wanted a bike. However Jane was from a family who were unable to afford a bike for her or her sister. The other problem, Jane has a disability and she needed a special, very expensive bike. Jane's family tried to get her a bike through different organizations but they were turned down as Jane wouldn't get these organizations enough publicity.

This family gave up hope on getting Jane a bike. During this time someone came forward to buy their younger daughter a bike, she didn't need a special bike so it was easy to get her one. When the younger daughters bike was brought to the house she refused to ride it, if Jane couldn't have a bike to ride she wasn't going to ride hers either.

Our pastor heard this story and brought it to our church. Heather and I weren't at church last week and so we had heard nothing about it. Our church decided that God wanted them to buy Jane this bike. So they wasted no time and ordered Jane her bike.

This past week a couple from our church were able to bring Jane her bike. When they pulled up to the house the little sister came running to the window, she got a huge smile on her face and said "Jane, they brought you your bike!" This girl was so excited because finally she would be able to ride bikes with her big sister!

I Love how God brings around opportunities to reach out and bless people when we least expect it!

Briercrest has a lot of weird traditions, one of which is to go to breakfast in Banff. This is something I didn't manage to do before I graduated however it is something I have now done!

Saturday night at 10:40pm Heather and I, along with 2 friends loaded up in a car and headed off to Banff. With a few stops (one of which was to sleep for a couple hours), we made it there by 10:00am! We then went out for breakfast, went shopping, took far too many pictures and by 2 we were back on the road to start our trip home. We were home by midnight!

Last week I had the opportunity to drive out to Toronto with Krista. We left Thursday at 9:30am, right after I got off work.

Day 1 We drove down to North Dakota and spent the night on the boarder into minesota.

Day 2 We drove through Minesota, wisconson and illinois (well a corner of it) and we spent the night in indiana

Day 3 We drove the rest of the way through indiana, then michigan and in to ontario. We were able to stay with my aunt and uncle and to see lots of the fam!

Day 4 I flew out of Toronto at 9am, back to the flatlands

Shoes

Most of my life I had no interest in shoes. I wore them only becuase I had to. I didn't really care what they looked like, as long as they were comfy. In high school I was HUGE into flip flops, I'd wear them all year round and they were great cuz they were really easy to color coordinate! When I moved out here I probably brought with me 5 pairs of shoes, yes this included my flip flops.

Well last February I bought my first pair of heals and I don't know what happened. I am not a shoeaholic. In the past month I have bought 6 pairs of shoes... 6 IN A MONTH!!! I have lots of flats, a few heals, sandals, runners, boots... I have it all and I can't stop! I always look for good deals on shoes when I'm out and if I find one I just can't but buy them. The good thing is I rarely spent more than $25 on a pair of shoes, with the exception of runners and work shoes. But really this has got to stop! So here is my pledge.

I, Andrea Keno, will not buy more than 1 pair of shoes a month... unless it's Bogo!

O MY!

That's all I can say about the next couple weeks of my life. I think I take on too much sometimes... like right now.

Yesterday, today and tomorrow I am redoing our kitchen... by that I mean painting the cupboards inside and out and painting the walls. In order to this however I had to:

Take EVERYTHING out of the kitchen
Take the doors off the cupboards
Sand down all the outside of the cupboards
Putty all the holes
wash the cupboards inside and outside
wash the walls down
and now I'm going to paint

I originally was only going to do the walls but I decided to go all the way!

Ok so that's the next few days after that I work (Sunday am-Thursday am).

Thursday Krista is picking me up from work and we are off on a road trip to Toronto! Krista is moving out there to work and I'm going along for a trip! We're going to be going through the States so we'll drive through

Bronchitis and Cricket

On the bronchitis front you should all know that I finished my antibiotics today and I'm all better (well I feel all better)! My allergies are still bugging me a bit but whatever it happens. I go back to the Dr's on Friday to make sure that I'm all better, then Saturday I'm back to work.

For the past few weeks I've really wanted a pet. I've had a few, ok 8, fish since being here (some were heather's I guess) and that hasn't gone too swell but I decided that I want a pet I can cuddle and bring for walks. But becuase I work so much it's hard to find a pet that will be ok on it's own so often. I came up with a Guinea pig!

But I don't think it's fair to leave it at home for so long. Then I was thinking hey I could just bring it to work with me! Ya not too sure how my boss would feel about that. So then I thought that maybe I would go for something less needy so I though A TURTLE!

Well turns out that really little turtles (like under 4") are not so safe (they are often salmonella carriers) and that turtles bite you! Who wants a pet that you can't even hold or cuddle and that bites you? Then I went back to my dream pet, a miniature pot belly pig!

I've wanted one for years and still want one real bad. But then they need lots of attention and time, neither of which I have to give right now. But finally I figured out what I am going to do... no I'm not going to get a pet cricket! I'm going to borrow our friends dog, Cricket, when I feel like I need a pet!

Today I brought him for a walk and we had some bonding time and I think he will be the perfect pet for me! That is until I can get my own pig!

Day #4 has been much much better than days 1-3. The only sign of my bronchitis left is that I sound like a man! That exclamation mark was not for the fact that I sound like a man but because I am basically better! I am now fighting with my allergies but that's ok I'm used to that.

So becuase I am feeling so much better I went back to the gym today... but don't worry I washed all the equipment well after I used it so I wouldn't get others sick. I'm very glad to be back to living now! I hate being sick.

O another great piece of news is that I slept through the night last night! This is the first time I have done that since getting sick!

Day 3 is well on it's way and my throat and lungs are feeling better but today my sinuses decided they were going to have a turn... so now I have uber congested sinuses and a head ache... this girl can't catch a break! I'm sure you're all dieing to know what I'm up to well here it goes today I watched Valentines Day (ok so I'm half was though)... right now it's mediocre, well see if the end gets better... I have also worked my way to the 3/4 mark of my book (for those of you who don't remember it's the Last song) anyways I also figured out recently that this wonderful book is going to be released as a movie in just a few short weeks! I can't wait to see it although I'm sure it will pale greatly in comparison to the book.

So I'm almost finished day 2 of being sick at home... I have to say it was much more productive than day 1... I'm starting to feel better, I can now walk around without coughing up a lung and it's getting easier to breath! But even though I'm feeling a bit better I'm still trying to take it easy so that I get better faster. Of course relaxing and getting better always involves watching TV and reading (well for me it does) so today I watched Big Bang Theory and read my newest book by Nicolas Sparks (The Last Song). I enjoyed both of these immensely... but I still HATE being sick.

Bronchitis and Hairspray

I went to work this morning at 9am and then decided that after shift change I should go to the Dr's as I had a sore throat and it was getting harder to breathe. I figured it was just my allergies acting up... boy was I wrong I was informed I have bronchitis and that I was not aloud to work... So I came home after working for 3 hours.

Now I have a few days of sitting around and recovery... I don't like having to sit around I get really board... I've only been home for under seven hours and I'm already running out of things to do.

Anyways one of the things I did today was watch Hairspray... I haven't watched it for over a year and I forgot how wonderful and funny it is. My favorite line has to be when Edna says to Tracy... "he doesn't notice what I wear. In 20 years he's never said nice moo moo or nothing" hahahaha...

Well as I'll be resting for a couple more days atleast I'm sure you'll hear more from me soon!

Krista and I have been going to the gym for the past couple of weeks and I'm surprisingly enjoying it. Because I work 4 days on 4 days off I'm only able to go 4 days out of the week. Anyways yesterday I went for the 6th time? and I was so encouraged becuase I noticed how I was improving! the first day I went I was able to do the elliptical for 2 min and I thought I was going to die! I was also only walking on the treadmill... well 6 times later I can easily do 5 min on the elliptical (I know it still sounds sad but I'm working up!) and I can run... ok maybe jog... on the treadmill for 1 min intervals!

I have decided in the past few days that I need a fitness goal so I have made one... I am going to run a 5km run July 1st! I have NEVER been able to run 5km but I now have 4 months to train so I will be able to... I'll keep you posted on how the training is going... and hopefully I'll have some pictures to post in July!

I can't wait until the summer! I love the summer! You get to do so much fun stuff in the summer! Last summer I made a list of all the things I wanted to do and I think I managed to most of them. Well I have decided to start a list for next spring/summer. I'm sure I'll add to it as the summer gets closer as I come up with more exciting things to do but here's the start:

Go to the North Dakota State fair and see Brooks and Dunn and maybe Eric Church
Go camping at least twice
Go home
Go to a rodeo
Go see Ani

As I said this is just a start but a good one I have to say! Now summer just has to hurry up!

Ethnic Night

When Heather, Krista and I were in China town a week ago we decided that we needed to start eating more foods from other ethnicity's so we are now having ethnic nights! This week we are going to have Mexican night! I'm going to make Quesadillas on corn shells with beef strips! We're also going to have Manzana Lift! I bought it in Bulgaria and I've been waiting for a special occasion... this isn't really one but close enough! Some other ideas we have are...

Chinese night (Rice, Spring rolls, chop suey, sweet and sour meat of some sort and fortune cookies!)
Filipino night (Tocino pork and Rice)
Guatemalan night (Tamales!)
Ukrainian (Perogies and Sausages)
Bavarian (Schnitzel, cabbage and homemade pasta)
Indian (samosas)

Poor Fishy #2

I'm sure I have blogged about my fish before, or atleast I blogged about getting them. Anyways a few weeks ago (llike 3?) I went and bought 3 fish to live in our livingroom as I like fish and they are the only pet that heather happily cares for while I'm at work. Well fishy #1 only lived a week and a bit then she passed away. I kinda expected this as me and fish don't have the best track record but I was still going strong cuz there were 2 left! Not to long after Fishy #1 died we thought fishy #2 died. She too was just laying on the bottom of the fish tank not moving. But when I went to get her out she started to move... ok so she's not dead! Well ever since then she just lays around the bottom of her bowl :( She only ever moves when she's swimming to the top to get food. Poor thing, I don't know what to do with her. I have such bad luck with fish... I think I need an easier pet, something a bit more hardy.

I've been a hockey fan for quite some time now so it's no suprise that I love to go to the Briercrest Clippers Games. Our team isn't such a good team... actually they are quite bad... they have 6 points out of 23 games played and only have 5 left. But I still love going to watch them play! Heather and I went to their game last night and we are heading off to our last clippers game of the year pretty quickly here. Well that is unless they make it into playoffs but I'm not holding my breath. So I'm a bit sad all I can say is Go Clippers Go and even if you lose we'll still love you!

I just booked plane tickets for Heather and I to Edmonton! We're leaving next Friday at 8:30pm and we get there at 9pm! I'm so excited I can't wait to see Krista and I can't wait to go back to West Edmonton Mall! Yaaa for Friday!
